Genentech Hall, UCSF, and the UCLA Medical Center

As reported in California Politic Today #277, the Site Search Committee of the Independent Citizens' Oversight Committee (ICOC) established by the passage of California Proposition 71 will be holding its first meeting on the UCLA campus in Westwood, California, between 11 am and 1 pm on Tuesday, January 25, 2005.

You can examine the agenda for this meeting by clicking here.

Included in that agenda is this item:

"[Members of the Public will be invited to provide testimony before or during consideration of each agenda item. Speakers are asked to limit their testimony to three (3) minutes.]"

This reporter intends to attend that meeting through the teleconference site provided at UCLA and "provide testimony" to the ICOC members in San Francisco remotely from Los Angeles.

As a sort of preview of that testimony, and as way of demonstrating that not only does a person wanting to testify to the ICOC Site Search Committee in San Francisco not have to travel the 400-plus miles from Los Angeles to the Bay Area, but that he or she doesn't even need to travel the 15-or-so miles from the San Fernando Valley to the UCLA campus, this reporter's planned remarks can now be easily heard simply by clicking here.

A written text version of these comments can be accessed by clicking here.

To access three, more-detailed, explanations of why putting the CIRM in cyberspace is good for California, good for bio-medical research, and especially good for the CIRM employees who would most directly benefit if the ICOC decides to go with the Cyberspace CIRM option, click on these links: Cyberspace CIRM #1, Cyberspace CIRM #2, and Cyberspace CIRM #3.
