In order to avoid the expense of putting a
ballot initiative sponsored by the West Hollywood Civil Liberties Alliance that would have directed the Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies on duty in the City of West Hollywood ("WeHo") under an outsourcing contract with WeHo to de-prioritize their enforcement within West Hollywood of laws against the possession and use of marijuana, the WeHo City Council
on June 16th announced it would consider, and tonight adopted, by unanimous consent (with one abstention from a Councilmember who works for LA County Sheriff Lee Baca), Consent Calendar Item 2.0, a resolution that does just that.
You can read that resolution, the official title of which is "Declaration of Policy that the City of West Hollywood does not target marijuana offenses and direction to the Public Safety Commission to review drug-related law enforcement statistics annually," by clicking
here.
