former U.S. President Bill Clinton at the Franklin Murphy Sculpture Garden at UCLA, October 13, 2006
three ways of viewing former President Clinton's October 13, 2006, speech at UCLA in support of California Proposition 87, the "Clean Alternative Energy Initiative"
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton spoke to a cheering crowd of several thousand students at the University of California, Los Angeles, yesterday, making the case for passage of California Proposition 87, the "Clean Alternative Energy Initiative," which would impose a $4 billion severance tax on oil producers in California and invest this money in bio-mass, wind, solar, and ethanol alternatives to oil- and other fossil-fuel-based technologies.
Etopia News, principal content supplier for the newly-launched
Online Broadcasting Network (
OBS), covered President Clinton's address yesterday at UCLA; videotaped it using a
Casio Exilim EX-S500 Ultra Slim Card Camera (at a resolution of 1200 x 1800 pixels); variously formatted and uploaded the resulting files; and, here on this page, has embedded code for Clinton's presentation to the crowd using three major players in the
User Generated Content (UGC) market:
YouTube,
Google Video, and
Brightcove.
Using
Camtasia Studio, the original .avi file of Clinton's speech was converted to a .wmv file and uploaded to YouTube (in two segments, since YouTube has a 10-minute limit on video clips) and Google Video and was also converted to a Flash (.flv) file and uploaded to Brightcove, as required for re-play on these systems, respectively.
