Most of the candidates in the Valley Village Neighborhood Council election being held on October 17, 2007, spoke briefly about their candidacies to a group of about 60 concerned citizens in the auditorium of Colfax Elementary School in Valley Village on Wednesday night, October 10, 2007.

Major themes touched upon by the candidates included “preserving the character” of the 22,000 person community in the southeast San Fernando Valley and coping with “incursions” of violence there.

Refreshments were available.

Balloting for seven two-year positions and one one year position on the Valley Village Neighborhood Council Board will take place between 4 pm and 8 pm on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at the site of Wednesday’s “meet ‘n’ greet” event, Colfax Elementary School, at 11724 Addison Street, Valley Village, California, 91607.

Paul Hatfield, currently the Valley Village Neighborhood Council Treasurer and also a candidate for re-election to the Board in this election, told the Etopia News Channel that he expected a turnout of about “one thousand” voters during the four-hour balloting period on October 17th.
